After working with the color yellow for so long, I began working with a particular shade of teal. How many times can I say that San Francisco's architecture truly spoke to my soul? I was fascinated by:

the repeating lines of the clapboard siding

the irregularity of the angles of the buildings

the large—and small—windows

the welcoming feeling of the neighborhoods

And most of all - the COLORS of the architecture!!

The side entrance to this corner house at 3691 23rd Street attracted me with its skinny tall door, the sidewalk tilting up, the reflection of the cityscape in the windows (which you cannot see here), the tiny steps with the tiny welcome mat, the mail slot in the door, and the way the window and the door were set into one frame - I loved it all!

I really did enjoy observing this house and figuring out the best way to draw this scene.
